Family fun with pizza, pins and pop

by beatitudehouse 30. December 2009 04:44

The Platz family gave their time and treasure this year and created memories to last a lifetime for the mothers and children living at Beatitude House in Youngstown.  Instead of purchasing gifts for the families, the Platz family wanted to do some type of activity with the families - they decided on bowling.  This past Tuesday afternoon, December 29th, the families boarded the Camelot Lanes bus and were treated to an afternoon of pizza, pins and pop!  From the youngest child (age 2) to the adults everyone laughed and enjoyed the day out.

Books Needed

by beatitudehouse 23. December 2009 07:09

The Potter's Wheel, the career and preparation program of Beatitude House finds itself in need of books to further assist the women in the program working to reach educational goals.  Specifically they are in need of dictionary/thesaurus sets.  Anatomy and physiology boooks would also be a great help as many of the women enrolled in the program are working toward certification/degrees in the health care field.

Santa's Workshop a Success!

by beatitudehouse 21. December 2009 10:10

The children were all smiles as they left Santa's Workshop after selecting the perfect gifts for their mom.  Thanks to the generosity of donors, the children had a wide array of items to choose from.   Depending on the number of children in the family, children were able to select anywhere from 1-3 gifts for mom.  Items included hat and scarf sets, blankets, jewelry, bath sets, home decorations, slippers, books, picture frames, etc.

"Watching the children select the perfect gift for mom is neat," said Becky a volunteer.  "They take their time looking at everything before selecting just the right gift."  After choosing their gifts, volunteers assist the children with wrapping - complete with bows and gift tags!

Thank you to anyone who donated items - you have truly made Christmas wonderful for Beatitude House families.

Ready for little shoppers!

by beatitudehouse 18. December 2009 09:32

Thanks to the generosity of so many groups and individuals in our area, the children of Beatitude House will have the opportunity to "shop" for that perfect gift for their mother at our annual Santa's Workshop day.  Staff and volunteers have worked hard preparing the store for the little shoppers.  After selecting the gifts, the children wrap them and the hard part is waiting until Christmas to present them to mom!

Christ Episcopal Church Plays "Santa"

by beatitudehouse 18. December 2009 04:02

For the last eight years, the congregation of Christ Episcopal Church in Warren has reached out to help the women and children of Beatitude House.  The group collects a variety of items every Christmas and creates "Santa's Workshop" for the families living at Beatitude House in Warren.  The group set up the workshop on Thursday evening December 17th and presented the women and children with the opportunity to select Christmas gifts for their loves ones.

The staff and families of Beatitude House would like to thank Rev. Donna Maree and the congregation of Christ Episcopal Church for giving of their time, talent and treasure.  They truly have made this holiday season a memorial one.

Members of the Boardman High School band wanted to do something for those in need this holiday season. The students decided to make fleece scarves for the women and children of Beatitude House.  They selected fun brightly colored prints and donated over 60 scarves, stockings and candy canes to the families.  The Potter's Wheel director, Kelly Elko seen below accepted the donation and explained to group the services offered by Beatitude House.
